The Brave
The Brave, (1997) is a film adapted from the Gregory McDonal Novel “The Brave”. This film was directed by Johnny Depp, staring with Johnny Depp too along with Marlon Brando. The Brave is a kind of drama sadness film.
Synopsis Film
Raphael (Johnny Depp) is a father who recently released from jail. He is an alcoholic addicted American Indian man. Raphael with his family, his wife Rita, son Frankie, dan his daughter Marta live in a remote Indian community near by a ground of rubbish dump location.
Raphael is to make a living his family selling staff what ever he can from the rubbish rubbish dump location. His son and daughter are getting older, they must need education. But Raphael can not effort his children to go to school, even for food is difficult too.
Seeing the life that he and his family’s situation is hopelessness, very hard and difficult to move out from the poverty, Raphael make a very brave decision. He love very much to Rita, and his children Marta and Frankie. He has ambition to make the people he loves get a better future in the days.
He decided to see a boss in one studio, a producer film (Marlon Brando). Raphael knew that the boss make a forbidden film, an underground violence film content, it is not for public consuming.
Then Raphael met the producer, he applied to him to be a star in the forbidden film. The producer explain him about the project, very clear and carefully he talked to Raphael that what he is doing in that film. $ 50,000.00 is a large sum of money in advance Raphael got from the producer, in condition Raphael only have a week time to enjoy his life with his family, the at the film schedule come, he must appear in the studio, to act as object actor of a snuff film, being tortured and killed directly clearly in front of the camera.
Raphael is a brave man. He does not afraid of being killed. He had made decision. Now he has $ 50,000.00 cash in hand. He is rich now, even thought he only has a week to live, to breath, he keep being happy in front his wife and kids. And when the day come, he leave that big mount of money to his wife’s hand. He said he must go, he asked Rita to look after the kids, take them to school, move to the city, buy a house, and finally he said, “I will never come back”.
