All Indonesian know that Padang city has an uniqueness public transportation that is angkot. When you come to my city you may see many angkots with their colorful decoration.
The route of the angkot’s destination signed with their particular color. The white color angkot goes to Tabing district, the orange angkot goes to Lubuk Buaya, Green angkot goes to Unand, Red angkot goes to Indarung, blue angkot goes to Jati and dark blue goes to Teluk Bayur.
Most angkots in Padang are always full of decorative sticker. You my find such as brand icon sticked in all the body and all the screens around, event the wind screen. There are a lot of brand they put on the angkot, like Adidas, OP (Ocean Pasific), Monster Enegy, Johnny Walker and so many others.
Not only stickers and colorful items the driver put on the vehicles. From inside of the angkot you will find dark screen surrounded, there also has an entertainment set like audio system, TV, video and decorative lighting, that we may feel like in a night club on the board . The owner of angkot installs all such that equipments is purposed to attract the people to take his angkot for transportation.
Padangnese, my people are selective to get an angkot. They must choose a good angkot with fully decorative and full music in. Most often the driver sets very load music till unhealth level in. The music they prefer usually Indonesian pop, Minang pop, dangdut and R and B. Students are mostly preference to get angkot with R and B and Indonesian pop music in. Adult prefer to get angkot with dangdut music. Most often the angkot driver changes his music at the time on the way run he find a passenger, the selection depend on the age of passenger. When there are many students stand to stop the angkot, the driver soon make the pop or R and B music on. Sure, the students will get in to the angkot, and the enjoy the music in while riding to their next stop.
Most angkot drivers in Padang are still young, about sixteen to thirty ages old. They do not have a high skill and experience driving, some time they do not have a drive license to run the angkot. That is way you in Padang we can find many angkot brake the role of traffic. They are careless driving, most often they run the angkot like they feel in a racing circuit, they take a passenger like in a pit stop.
